The Practicum course includes: Participation in a planned clinical experience in an approved setting under an approved counsellor-supervisor; Realization of a gradual shift from that of a student to that of a professional; Case conceptualization and presentation, Feedback giving and receiving, Functions, types and methods of supervision; record keeping and ethics of supervision.
A total of one hundred and eighty (180 hours of supervised counselling experience of which at least 145 are expected to be direct, “intervention and assessment experience”. Others include regular meeting with counsellor – supervisor to review counselling work; Attending workshops and seminars on contextualized issues, research and documentation.
