The purpose of this unit is to equip learners with competencies required in assessment, planning and providing holistic care needed to improve the quality of life of those affected by HIV/AIDS and other medical conditions.
The Expected Learning Outcomes are that by the end of the unit, learners will be able to;
-Define health, health psychology, HIV and AIDS, medical conditions, health counseling
-Describe health models
-Discuss the Biopsychosocial- Spiritual model of health counseling
-Understand the process of medical conditions counseling
-Design and structure counseling sessions for clients with HIV and AIDS and other medical conditions
-Describe the process of palliative care and referral of a patient/client with a medical condition
